Description
Alexndra Koukinova FIREBIRD #5/5 Mint You are bidding on a rare Alexandra Koukinova creation from 1997. Firebird, based on the famous Russian ballerina Karsavina, is #5 of a worldwide edition of 5. I am the original owner and she was briefly displayed behind glass, out of the sunlight, from a non-smoking home but has been packed away in her original box the past few years. My asking price is a fraction of her original retail price, and less than half of her wholeslae price. Many of Alexandra's dolls are in major museums in Russia and elsewhere. On Alexandra's website Firebird is described as follows: "The silk costume is an exact replica of for the original ballet Firebird based on the original sketches by Baksta. All the parts of the costume are made by hand and decorated with gold antique tinsels, silk thread and feathers of rose-colored exotic bird. Hair-dress, cuffs and decorations at the waist are hand-made of brocade, antique laces, gold metal line, tinsels and glass beads of several tints. All the jewelry: earrings, pendants of plaits, rings and pendents are hand-made. Brocade shoes are decorated with gold thread. A wig is made of real hair and real feathers of an exotic bird. The theatrical make-up is executed according to Baksta's sketches (1912) for the Russian ballerina Karsavina". Firebird is sculpted in a kneeling position and measures 14.7 inches tall (from stand to head) and is bisque porcelain and hand painted. She comes in her original box and has her original tag and stand. She is in mint condition. I have supplied many photos for your viewing including one of Tamara Karsavina in The Firebird ballet. The other picture is a print of the original Baksta drawing which is included with the doll. Buyer to pay USPS Priority Mail shipping and insurance (required). I accept PayPal and only ship to confirmed addresses. International buyers pay via PayPal and pay for International Priority Mail and insurance . I mark the custom forms "other" and full value paid is declared. Pay Pal payment must be received within 3 days. Due to work and time constraints I ship on Wednesday and Saturday. I make every effort to accurately describe the doll and include many pictures in the listing. 2-3 payment layaway is available, and if interested please email for details. Please ask questions before bidding as the sale of this doll is final.
