Description
Steiff 1907 Teddy Bear Cinnamon Color 1906 Antique Steiff 16" Cinnamon Teddy Bear From original owner's family This little fellow has been around for 103 years and is wanting a new home. His fur is in excellent condition. He could use a little fluffing and grooming. You can see how long the soft cinnamon colored mohair is. It has not faded over the years. As I see it, none of it is missing or worn off. The bear was not brushed or fluffed for any of the photos. The traditional Steiff button is missing from his ear. Looking under his chin and you can see the color is the same there as it is on the top of his head. Perfect foot pads. On the right paw pad there is a very small hole where the stuffing is showing. This can be repaired, should you wish, by a qualified teddy bear restorer. Left paw pad. Top of the foot with black embroidery to define the toes. Showing the back of his head you can tell that he was not brushed for the photo shoot. A little steam would bring up the pile and his ears could be reshaped. As they are now, they add a lot of character to this charming and rare little fellow. The back. The bear is soft stuffed or perhaps the hard-pack stuffing has just grown soft with age and lots of hugs. He is 5-way jointed. Nose embroidery is original with no stitches broken. His ears look a little crushed as he has lived in a pillowcase, tucked in a drawer, living in a smoke free environment. Ken Yenke, renowned appraiser, Author, Museum Curator holds the little bear at a recent teddy bear show. He says the bear is "in nearly mint condition and a rare antique Steiff treasure." The bears sits by itself, in various poses but can not stand by itself. Inside he has a non-working 'sideways' growler. Taking it easy; waiting for the bidding to begin!
