This Kammer & Reinhardt doll still has the original finish. Pouty Gretchen has blue intaglio or painted on eyes with impressed pupils and irises.  These eyes and her pouty closed mouth give her the impression of being a real child.  She has a fully jointed 5 piece composition body and a blond mohair wig.  The back of the Bisque head is marked K R with a Star of David between the 2 letters.  There is another symbol imprinted in the middle of the star.  The number 114 is also on the back. The pate is cardboard and the wig is held on by pins. The wig does have some pulls at the crown. There are some slight chips on the back of the head and there is a slight crack on the right wrist.  She is wearing a darker rust colored dress with a black belt and choker.  A crescent mother of pearl brooch sets off her attire with flair.  Petticoat, bloomers, black socks and white shoes finish her outfit. We have provided a large amount of pictures so that you can see the exact condition of this doll.  The doll was purchased from an Antique Doll Store in New York.  They advised our consignor that the doll itself is circa 1900 and our research confirms this date.  The price of the doll was $7000 eight months ago so the asking price is more then fair on market value. This is a beautiful example of a Kammer & Reinhardt Doll.  The attention to detail of her bisque head makes Gretchen appear alive.  If you collect dolls then this is a must have little girl.  Everything appears to be original and all she needs is a little TLC.
